Description
Tri Tip is the triangler cut of beef from the bottom of the Sirloin Sub primal. It is known for being tender with a rich flavor.
Tri Tips avg between 2.5-3 lbs per steak
Here is a recipe to try with it.
Ingredients:
2 TBS Extra Virgin Olive Oil
1 TBS Salt
1 Tsp Pepper
2 Tsp Garlic
1 TBS Rosemary
2.5-3 Lbs. of Tri Tip Cut Approximately 1# Thick (cut against the grain)
Instructions:
1. In a large cast iron skillet or other heavy-duty skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
2. In a small bowl, combine rosemary, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Rub each side of the steak with the mixture and place in hot skillet.
3. Sear on both side for about 2 minutes per side.
4. Reduce heat to medium. For medium-rare steak (internal temperature of 145 degrees-160 degrees), cook for an additional 6-8 minutes, turning to ensure even cooking on both sides.
5. Remove steak from skillet, cover, and allow to rest for 5-10 mins before serving.
